Myrtle Marie Thompson passed to her heavenly home into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on March 16, 2024.
She was born in Memphis, TN on June 13, 1946 to the late Fincher, Sr and Alice Louisa Mitchell and was the baby of seven siblings. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Union Valley Baptist Church in Memphis.
Myrtle was a songbird from a young age and sang in the high school Glee Club at Hamilton High School where she graduated in 1965.
She moved to Fort Wayne in 1971 where she joined Union Baptist Church and continued her musical ministry.
She met and fell in love with the late William Thompson; they married in 1979.
Myrtle worked for the Fort Wayne Developmental Center as a supervisor for 30 years. She enjoyed working with the patients and often befriended on a personal level.
She lived a long full life and made friends wherever she went; never met a stranger. She loved singing, dancing, concerts, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was always the life of the party that drew people to her.
Myrtle loved Christmas time and made it a wonderful and memorable time of year; she decorated every room in her house.
She leaves behind her sister, India Conrad of Fort Wayne, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends all who loved and cherished her.
She will be greatly missed but we lean on our faith knowing we will spend life eternal together some day.
