Anjel Yvonne Brown (Paschall), age 89, was born on December 5, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Elisha and Jessie Blanche Paschall. From an early age, Anjel accepted Christ as her Savior and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. While not a member of any particular church, Anjel faithfully nurtured her spiritual life and most often attended Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center, where she cherished the Word, meaningful fellowship, and the beautiful melodies that blessed her at every visit.
Anjel attended Central High School and, demonstrating perseverance and determination, later earned her GED. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who served faithfully in several roles over the years. Her employment included work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois; positions with GBC in Northbrook, Illinois; the Allen County Sheriff’s Department; and many years as a receptionist with Tokem, where she was known for her professionalism and dependability.
She was united in marriage to the late Thomas Brown Sr., and from this union four children were born: Linda, Thomas Jr., Sharon, and Mark. Anjel was a proud and loving mother whose guidance, strength, and high standards shaped the lives of her family.
Anjel was a renowned seamstress for many years, known for designing and crafting everything from handkerchiefs to elegant wedding gowns.Anjel was admired for her impeccable style, her delicious home-cooked meals, and her unwavering faith. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, tending to her garden, and thrifting within her community—always with an eye for beauty and quality.
On January 25, 2026, Anjel peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, strength, elegance, and devotion that will continue to live on through generations.
She is survived by her loving children: Linda Chapman of Buckeye, AZ; Thomas Brown Jr. (Sharon) of Torrance, CA; Sharon Brown of Fort Wayne, IN; and Mark Brown of Fort Wayne, IN; and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Paschall of Fort Wayne, IN.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Tamara Mathews (Chapman) and Michael Chapman Sr.; her great-grandchildren: Robert Foster Jr., Quiera Chapman, Kaliyah Chapman, Michaela Gayden, Michael Gayden Jr., Michael Chapman Jr, Daija Parrish, Miqarion Chapman, Toyiell Chapman, and Taraji Chapman; her great-great-grandchildren: Myla Greenaway, TAaliyah Chapman, TAa’laysia Chapman, and TAa’lahni Chapman; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Anjel was preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Jessie Blanche Paschall; her beloved husband, Thomas Brown Sr.; and her siblings: Dorothy Odom, Ola Tate, Cleo Wheeler, Myra Lewis, Thelma Bronaugh, Eula Easley-Matten, Roger Paschall, Daniel Paschall, and Charles Taylor.
