Shirley Muff-Bynum Obituary

Shirley A. Muff-Bynum was born on January 3, 1951, to Clifford and Frances Muff-Blakey in Fort Wayne Indiana. Shirley passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 75 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, The Heart Institute.

Shirley accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Baptist Church in Fort Wayne Indiana. Later, she worked as a dispatch for the FWPD. She moved on from there to work for the Metropolitan Human Relations Commission. Shirley retired from the office that protects and fights against racism and discrimination based on race, sex, and origin. She loved everyone.

Shirley decided sitting at home was not for her, so eventually she got back to doing the things that made her happy, helping and mentoring. Soon, she began to work for the Boys and Girls Club. Shirley left her gentle and peaceful presence known with everyone she encountered. She felt it was necessary to work for the Hope Center, where she ran the office as the manager.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, solving puzzles, and relaxing with her children, family and friends in the backyard. Creating good times with her sister, Marilyn Muff, and family friend, Letitia Acoff, brought joy to Shirley's life. Shirley valued her family relationships, especially with her supportive siblings. She adored bonding with daughter, Marqutia Muff, playing games such as Spades and Skippo, while laughing and sharing tears of joy. What she really enjoyed was catching up with her grandchildren, Kasia, the twins Malia and Makhi, Makayla and MJ. Every Friday, for the last few years, she enjoyed family group chats watching the twins play high school sports. She also enjoyed movies that don't allow you to sleep at night. She loved to travel and gamble sometimes while doing it. Most importantly, Shirley treasured God. Attending Fort Wayne City Church every Sunday led her to falling in love with Jesus even more.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sister, Marilyn Muff; her loving brother, Terry Muff (Terra Muff); her son, Mark Muff; her daughter, Marquita Muff; her granddaughter, Kasia Martin; her first Grandson, Mark Muff Jr.; twins, Malia and Makhi Muff; her granddaughter, Makayla Salas; special grandchildren, Sedrick Robinson, Tyland Haye, and Aaliyah Henderson and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Frances Muff; brothers Jerry Michael Muff and Phillip E. Muff; and sisters, Carolyn Muff and Sandra Kay Muff; and her niece, Nikkia Brown.
